Historic Apalachicola

Apalachicola Anchors Workshop

Ever noticed how many old anchors are lying around in Apalachicola? Ever wonder about their history? Join us for a day all about anchors!  We are very excited to have archaeologists Barbara Hines and Franklin Price joining us from Tallahassee for this special project.

The day will start with a presentation at 10 a.m. about identifying the parts of an anchor and what those parts can tell us about their history. This session is open to everyone. Then, in the afternoon, help us record the anchors around town so that they can be entered in the world-wide Big Anchor Project Database.  The fieldwork component begins at 1 p.m. and requires registration.
