Historic Apalachicola

Works on Exhibit by Beth Appleton

For the past couple of years, I have been busy creating a new body of work to present. Inspired by images seen through a digital microscope, I have been fascinated by the surreal diverse life that thrives in a single drop of water. Collecting samples from our local waters, I also log GPS readings to help document these findings. Back in the studio, I am transformed by a world that I only thought I knew. The Gulf of Mexico holds such treasures trapped in her tide pools! From diatoms to the lifeforms I am just beginning to know by name, I stay inspired. I am interpreting this experience with cut paper works, art videos and by creating microphotographic digital assemblages.“Aquatica 4x” is a 28″x 20″ watercolor/cut paper assemblage pictured at the right.
Please join us for this opening; I hope to have many new works completed, a new book and video to present by show time.
